Gonna Getcha by Forest-Imp Gonna Getcha by Forest-Imp
Rattlesnakes are totem. This pit-viper is ready to strike, but even so, delightfully cute. The Western Diamond-backed Rattlesnake (Crotalus atrox) is Arizona's largest rattlesnake and will easily reach 5 and a half feet (about 168 cm) in length, and may even approach 7 feet (~213 cm). Whoah baby, watch out for that bite.

Beautiful and Misunderstood...
Playing an essential role in Arizona ecosystems...
And even for health (such as by eating virus carrying rodents)...
Admire and respect the strength and grace, and receive a service in return.

Great shot! And so true too...so beautiful and misunderstood...
My heart cries for these rattlesnakes when I hear of the Rattlesnake Roundups that take place in Texas. I hope they stop those cruel killings...:(

My heart goes out to those beautiful snakes as well.... such roundups and abuse occur elsewhere as well... sometimes in the guise of a church activity... and it all pains my heart. I Love snakes, and i know you do too... so thank you dear.

I was hoping that you'd reply that those roundups don't happen anymore...:(
It is so cruel and heartless and hurts me to the core. And so discrimatory too...if they were rounding up a furry animal like puppies or kittens, and killing them like they do snakes, there would be such a tremendous public outcry against it...

A while ago I heard of this wierd story in the News of a man stopped by Tennessee police because he had 5 venomous snakes (rattlesnakes and copperheads). He was a pastor and was taking them to church. I wonder what he had in mind for them? But they were confiscated by police...

This shot is packed with emotion! There is an urge to just gaze and an equal one to part ways quickly.

He looks almost curious. You'd think he was if you didn't know that they only take that pose when they're at Defcon 1.

In a way i feel, make that know, he is more curious than angry... it's just like programmed instinct/react and wonder at the same time :-)

It's funny how even an animal without eyelids or what we hairier creatures would call eyebrows can still be so expressive.
